TO CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EMBASSY OF IRELAND IN NEW DELHI

"RAGAS TO REELS" CONCERT TOUR
WITH
UTSAVLAL& SAM COMERFORD
An Indo-Irish confluence of music
"…...Lal's playing veers from delicately decorative through intelligent probing to full-tilt spearheading of the trio, with dreamy embellishments & flights of fancy while Comerford introduces foot tapping Irish reel material into the mix and peels off increasingly furious flute-licks as the trio crank up the tempo with increasingly complex rhythmic patterns on the tabla....the high energy meeting of the East & west sends a virtually full house happy and mulling over the intermeshings which are possible when cultures face each other...finding areas of commonality and overlap where previously it seemed that none existed". Terry Blain, music critic, UK.
"Ragas to Reels" brings a cultural confluence of the rich musical traditions of India and Ireland. From the haunting sounds of the Indian Ragas to the pounding energy of Irish Reels, the artists enter into a musical dialogue and present a melodious crossover celebrating the friendship between the two countries and the golden jubilee year of the presence of the Embassy of Ireland in India.
